Burlap and Lace Lampshades

I've been wanting to share this project for some time.  Life has just not cooperated to give me blogging time, but I have a moment this morning, so I'm taking advantage of it.

Picture heavy tutorial ahead!

I had these 2 lampshades.  One was dented, and they both were boring.

For the first shade, I took one of my drop cloth bed pillow covers that was coming apart and just ripped it the rest of the way.

This was really easy to do.  The length and width were nearly perfect and I just used my handy-dandy glue gun.

Then I did the burlap shade, also using my glue gun

This was the finished product at first.
However, the imperfect edges bugged me.

After some brainstorming, I decided to add lace

I chose a nice wide cotton lace and glued it on to both the top and bottom

Finished!

This is the burlap shade.  I LOVE how the lace shows through the burlap when the lamp is lit.

The drop cloth shade turned out awesome too.  I brought the lace down lower on this one so it peeks out from the bottom of the shade.  It just adds a little extra fun to the shade.

Perfection!

Thanks for looking!  This was so easy to do, I have a feeling no lampshade in my house is safe from my glue gun.
