Happy Gallery Wall

I'm standing at my kitchen counter with the little one sleeping on me in a wrap.  I'm sure this post will take an hour or two to put together since I don't have any undivided time to blog, but I just can't wait any longer to show off my gallery wall.

I love gallery walls, and I see so many fun ones out there.  It is a great way to show off your own personality because anything goes!!  There is no one way to put together a gallery wall.   Here is my version.

I started with the primary colors being just black and white with accents of red and aqua.

I didn't lay this wall in any particular way besides the shelves (on clearance at Target), which helped focus my layout.

When I finally got going, I started by hanging the huge square frame first (which I got for 60% plus 20% off at JoAnns!).  Then I hung the set of shelves.  These were the only things on the wall I measured out; the rest I just eyeballed and played with until I liked the results (there were lots of nail holes, which I just patched up later).

You can see my re-purposed crib frame peeking around the corner

Now for the details.

This sign is so awesome and so fitting for how we live

This sign is another one from Red Letter Words collection for Dayspring.  I love the saying and the color goes well for my design plan

I love stars.  This pretty one started out a rust tone, but I took some chalk paint to it
I lightly brushed on the paint so that the rusty tones would show through

This sweet frame I've had for 10 years or so, but it was broken and forest green.  I just removed all the hardware to it and spray painted it a high gloss red.  It has a romantic spicy vibe!

Ah, my beloved ampersand.  I've been wanting one forever, so I was thrilled to find this at Target.  It makes me happy every time I see it.

Another Target clearance item is this frame
(are you tired of hearing about Target yet?  Too bad.  I love Target and I dragged a lot of this home with me from Washington on my last trip)

The colors are just right to add a bit of lightness to the decor

I used a couple of pictures with bright backgrounds to add pops of color

A cool thing about a gallery wall is that it helps disguise the funky permanent things on the wall (like the doorbell and venting system shown here)

I am so happy with the way the whole thing turned out.  It makes me smile when I walk by, and I catch my husband stopping to stare at the pictures quite often, and that's enough for me.

    1. Thanks so much! I just posted on what I'm using (and going to be using). I am really excited about it...though ACE is a great program, especially if you're trying to get used to homeschooling, since it's all pretty much student directed. I TOTALLY know what you mean about missing your daughter, I cannot imagine not having my babies with me through the day...we are all buddies!

  5. Thank you!! I think it turned out well. It's tricky to get just the right blend of quirky and beautiful, but I am very happy with how it turned out. I appreciate your words.

  11. Hi Miranda, I adore your gallery wall. Nice to meet someone who likes similar things. I just blogged today about my gallery wall. It doesn't have to be made up from expensive items, just bits and pieces which take your fancy. Keep on being creative. It looks great. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

  18. Very nice gallery wall! I like the ampersand. Your motto is great too. I'm pretty much obsessed with Mary Engelbreit myself!

  19. Love your gallery wall. I love ampersands - it's partly why I chose the font I have on my blog, just loved the way it looked. Forget the alphabet and numbers! Brrrr. Alaska. Oh how I loved Whidbey Island WA. Never got to Alaska from there. Dreamed it but never did it. Thank you and your husband and family for his service to our country. Thank you. I'm so glad he stops to "smell the roses" at your gallery wall. :) Jenn (I'm using my Google account today - taking a small survey of those who hop by my link, as to how troublesome it is. It's easier to sign posts w/Google but harder to navigate to my blog. :( Thanks) and Thanks, Jenn
