Fun Wall Organization...inspired

I hope you had a VERY Happy Christmas!

I have a long wall in my house and didn't really want to put in yet ANOTHER section of pictures in my house.

I've been talking for a while about putting in a chalkboard for the kids and then I found this on Etsy (which was linked by My Sweet Savannah here)

And so the focused design was born...

I added a lovely piece from Urban Soul
(Red Letter Words' line for Dayspring)

We taped the space off and then painted 3 coats of magnetic paint (actually 6 coats over 2 days, when all was said and done...learning lesson: make sure the store shakes this well for you, as it is nearly impossible to mix yourself)

Followed by 3 coats of chalkboard paint on the bottom rectangle
(it looks blue, but it dries black.  This was a DREAM to work with after painting with the magnetic paint.  In total, we spent 4 days getting the paint on)

The top rectangle I repainted in my Zircon gray paint

My sister and I took all the kids to Lowe's for supplies.  We had simple trim cut in the right size and angles to make the frame.  I painted the trim black and then we tacked it up there with finish nails.

I had some little plaques my Mom had gotten me that I didn't have anywhere to put (sorry Mom), so I took chalkboard paint to them and used command tabs to hold them in place on the wall.

The area below the numbers (1 for each of them) will be for chore/homework charts or just things I want to hang up for the kids

I'm loving the sweet little bucket that will hold the kids' chalk

The height chart is *amazing* in person.  I love it so much!

It's designed to hang all the way to the floor, but I hung it higher to allow for dusting and vacuuming of the baseboards.  I put in a nail at the right height underneath the chart so I can hang it properly whenever I want to measure the kids.

The promises of God to us ♥

I'm thankful to my sister who helped me complete this really fun project, and for the 9 kids who were actually really helpful when it came to staying away from all the painting and mess, and being patient with their mommies.

  6. This is such a cool idea. I agree...sometimes it's nice to NOT hang a group of pictures. This is great for my Wednesday Pinterest link party if you want to stop by tomorrow!
