I'm not that great at things like this, but I'll give it a go...
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A wife and mommy. I planned my goals around it, never intending to go to college or have a big career. I worked hard, but I made sure the man I married was aware that I wanted 5 kids and I would be staying home with them. Luckily, my man is perfectly happy with that arrangement. I am living a blessed life.
What do you like most about where you live?
Well, since we've only been in interior Alaska a month and haven't experienced all it has to offer, I will note the two things I love about it.
1) It feels safe. Crime is low, and it just has a feeling of contentment and safety. I like that.
2) There is no pressure to look or appear a certain way. Everyone dresses and drives what they want or what they can afford and no one here cares. There is amazing diversity and variety in both people and "looks" here. No need to meet the "status quo". Survival is what it's all about.
If you could only rescue three things from your house what would they be?
Well, let's say that my kids and husband are already out of the house.
1) I would save my laptop because it has all my pictures from the last 7 years on it since I have never printed them and got them in albums.
2) My wedding albums
3) My cell phone
Gosh, I love to read. I will say that my favorite book(s) are the Little House on the Prairie series. I love classics and the memories that are associated with them. I feel like an 8 year old when I see those books.
What's your favourite room in your house?
Right now? I will say my daughters room because I just finished painting it. It needs some work still, but it's fun and bright and clean.
What's your favourite joke?
I don't have one actually. I'm not a joke person (which is funny, because my parents are huge joke people). I like stories and quotes. Currently, my favorite quote that embodies why we live the way we do: "Hillary Clinton says it takes a village to raise a child. I've seen the village; and I don't want it raising my child." - unknown
What would you most like to change about your house?
I would add really good built in storage. There is enough square footage, but not enough storage. That's an expensive and hard thing to add, but I'm working on it!
Yes! I haven't experienced it myself, but I absolutely believe in it. I'm a romantic at heart, how could I not?
And those I have chosen to tag!
My questions for you gals are:
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
What was your favorite childhood television program?
What was your pet name when you were a kid?
What is your favorite decorating task to do (ie: painting, hanging pics, building, etc...)
What is your least favorite home chore to do?
Besides decor/home stuff, do you have any other hobbies or passions?
Are you a morning or night person?
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Those are really great answers, Miranda. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about your life in Alaska. It's so different in some ways, yet so similar in others. I've alwayws wanted five children too! We have four at the moment and will have our fifth in a couple of years (that's the plan anyway....!).
I can't believe you did your daughter's room so quickly! You must have picked up a brush two seconds after you moved in!
Thanks Sarah! As far as painting, I've been focused on one room a week. I'm an instant gratification person, so even that delay is irritating. I now have a hallway (this week's project that will probably just get squeezed in on Saturday to qualify for being this week), laundry room, guest room and 2 bathrooms to do. The rest is done. My sister and her kids are coming mid month to help me hang pics and "stage" decorate. I'm excited about that.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted 5 children---3 boys and 2 girls. I'm just newly pregnant again (our little surprise we weren't planning until next year, but you know the saying "the best laid plans..."), so I'm really hoping for a girl this time, but I seem to have a bad track record for them-lol.
Miranda you really need to get those photos saved on an external hard drive which can be purchased on line easily. I had a friend help me set one up and it contains my whole computer and photos if I should crash which did happen to my old PC. I now have a Mac and drop any new photos right into the external hard drive. CD are not reliable for storage and neither are the flash drives. Nan
