Home to Alaska

I'm back from Washington.  I had planned on posting a few times while I was there, but my internet access was patchy and I was just too darn busy hanging out with the family....and making trips to Pottery Barn, Ikea, local antique stores and some fun festivals.  I love the area for decorating.  It's not that hard to find cool items at affordable prices, unlike what I've found here in Alaska.

That said, it is lovely to be home.  While we had great weather in Washington during the visit, the pace of life is much busier.  I am enjoying the snow and quiet here.  Life is calm and slower than in the lower 48.

I have so much to share regarding the trip, but I don't have a lot of time right now.  I got our new pellet stove installed yesterday; just in time for our -15 degree low we're having tonight.

Sorry for the ugly, "unstyled" photo...

Tomorrow, my couch is supposed to be picked up.  Yes, we're selling the lovely curved sofa that I am in love with.  It's gorgeous and stylish, but it is not fitting into our lifestyle or space.  So I decided to bite the bullet and sell this beauty.  I'm hoping that even with the money loss I'm taking on it, I can replace it with a decent set from one of the local stores.  We need more room in the house and that's the primary reason.

I'll be back in the next couple of days with thoughts on my trip and new "find" photos.  I had so much fun shopping!!

  1. Welcome Back. I wondered how you were doing. Sounds like a nice trip. I know about the weather up there since my grandson is at UAF and I hear from him all the time. Yes that cured sofa did eat up the space. Wonder what you will come up with to replace it?

  2. Welcome home! Glad you had such a nice trip! I've not seen Pottery Barn out here, I would love to get my fix in! I had to laugh about your mention of reasonable prices here in WA! While I know that they must seem dirt cheap compared to Alaska, the cost of living is so much higher here than back in MI! Guess it's all relative:)
