I've promised a Master Bathroom reveal for about a year now. Honestly, I've just not been happy with the way it looked, but I lacked the money and vision to improve it.
This photo is from before we moved in...and of course before I cleaned and painted
This photo is from before we moved in...and of course before I cleaned and painted
The current walls are painted in SW Oyster Bay and the main accent color is Antibes ASCP.
I've tossed around repainting the walls a darker tone or changing the artwork, curtains or rugs....but it just felt wasteful in a perfectly lovely room.
Amazingly, all it took was the change of a light fixture.
Different versions of this "hip and modern" light were all over the house when we moved in here. I've replaced them over the last 2 years as the bulbs burned out.
Here is a really bad photo of the lighting before (thank goodness the $7ea replacement lights were burning out):
And the brand new, super affordable $24 beauty that has transformed my bathroom
Going from the cold fluorescent light to the warm incandescent tones is SO much more beautiful
Let's start back at the entry into the room. While I adore the french doors and how they look, the room has no locks and very little privacy. I hung white linen curtains from Ikea to add a wee bit more privacy during shower time.
Over the large window a pair of nubby Ikea curtains provide much needed warmth
The mirror above the window will be replaced this summer with a DIY pharmaceutical sign to add a little extra personality
My sister got me this old bowl and vintage pool balls for my birthday
The shutters have added character to my bathroom and helped me love this room more
So my bathroom is now a much enjoyed room once again. All because of a light
I hope you've enjoyed this little tour. If you have any new ideas for the space, I'd love to hear them!

It's amazing how something so simple as light bulbs and a new fixture can make such a difference! Our living room was really dark dreary looking, so I put in some daylight bulbs and it really helped. Thanks for sharing at Knick of Time Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! Love the pops of color you added :)
