When I decided to redo the boys' room, I knew I was going against what they wanted. Change is hard. So in working through the ideas, I asked them for their input and just really paid attention to the things they like.
One of the games the kids all love to play is Axis and Allies. This game goes on for days (or weeks). Dave and the kids will disappear at different times during the week and I know that this is what they are playing.
To do this project, I went online and ordered a nearly new Axis and Allies game board. I chose one that would go with their room colors, and Adin particularly wanted the 1942 version that they always play with.
To back the board, I used something I already had...leftover mini blind slats. We replaced a broken mini blind in our house and these were the leftovers from when I shortened the length of them.
I tried to use gorilla glue, but it wasn't setting on the faux wood blinds fast enough. I ended up using hot glue on the whole thing. Lots of hot glue (love that stuff!)
Then the game board was hot glued to the front
We're all pretty happy with how it turned out
Here's an unstaged glimpse of the room. I hope to get pics of it tomorrow or Monday and do the reveal before we leave on Tuesday!

oh my gosh, my friend and his cousins play that. he built a ridiculous table that houses all the pieces and there's a covering on it, so nothing is disturbed until the next time they play...needless to say his wife loves it, lol.
ReplyDeletelooks great on the wall!!
That's a really neat idea, one of those, why didn't I think of that moments, definitely going to keep this idea in mind.
