These are the pics from CL. I don't have any of my own just yet.
For reference, here is my Bedroom design post
I was planning to paint them, but I don't really mind the color. Initially, I was thinking a dry brush with aqua paint for the dresser...for the bed, I'd thought a more opaque white with lots of sanding to let the wood show through. I also have to paint the dark wood nightstands, so I was planning on taking those white.
Would you leave the dresser and bed as is? If it were you, how would you paint them?
Here is my Polyvore design page for photo reference:
I really like the Polyvore design. It is chich without being cold. And I think the palette really goes well with any season.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely paint the bed...lovely find, by the way (: You could create a canopy with inexpensive curtain rods attached to the ceiling draped with white sheets as an inexpensive fabric alternative (could add a bad of color on the edges of the panels to tie in the color of your drapes). I've done this before with amazing results and wish I had a photo to share with you.
ReplyDeleteI noticed in your bedroom design post, you like the mirrored dressers. Have you thought about turning the nightstands you have into that? Easy to do with plexi and mirror spray paint. You would just need to cut plexi panels, spray with mirror paint and cover the drawer fronts and top to create the same feel. Add some pretty knobs and you’re good to go!
I hope that helps. You have a lovely design put together and I can't wait to see the results!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I look forward to coming back to yours often to read future posts (:

oops! mispelling..."(could add a band of color on the edges of the panels to tie in the color of your drapes)"
ReplyDeleteSo nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by Lather. Write. Repeat.! Great score on the furniture! I love the idea of dry brush painting them to freshen them up!

I did a dry brush technique on an old desk of mine and it turned out really neat- you might try something like that but if you like the wood keep it. I wonder if lots of people will be wishing they had their wood back someday soon!
ReplyDeleteOh! I think your ideas sound dreamy!
ReplyDeletem ^..^
Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteMary Ellen, I wonder that too. It seems a bit of a shame to paint really nice wood. Paint seems more appropriate to rejuvinate dated or unappealing items. But I still love the freshness of paint...
Michele, thanks for the ideas. I'll have to consider those when I get going. I'm no seamstress, but I'm hoping to get good at it there in AK.
I love the wood and it is just my color. I think you should send both pieces to me and buy something else to paint. LOL
ReplyDeleteI really love both pieces and you are one lucky girl to have found them!
